Privacy policy

CULP is operated by Emerick Chassé (CULP). This policy explains what the product handles, what is stored, and for how long. Questions about any of it go to privacy@claudeusagelimits.com.

The short version

CULP does not log your usage. There is no record of what you decoded, what you searched for, what files you edited, or what you asked Claude. That is a property of how the product is built, not a promise about how we behave: no such record is created, so none can be read, sold, subpoenaed or leaked.

What leaves your machine

Four things happen over the network, and nothing else does.

• A compact write. The compact notation, the tool name, the target file path and the kind of mutation are sent to the decoder so it can pick a language and expand the notation. The expanded source is returned to your machine and is not retained.
• A status or plan check. A signed request carrying this device identifier. It contains nothing about you.
• The message of the day and the release manifest. Unauthenticated reads. They carry no identifier at all.
• The definitions tool. The public GitHub repository you named, and the question you asked about it.

Delegated search and the patch tool are local. Neither makes a network call, so neither sends us anything at all.

What is stored, and where

On your machine

Under ~/.culp: this device private key, the device identity, the access token, the cached release manifest and the cached message of the day. The credential deliberately excludes your email address, your password, your hardware address and any refresh token, so a copy of it identifies a device and not a person.

On our servers

• Your account: email address, hashed password, and whether the address has been confirmed. Passwords are stored hashed and are never recoverable, by us or by anyone.
• Your subscription: the Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, the plan, the period dates and the payment count. Card numbers never reach our servers; Stripe holds them.
• Your devices: one row each, with the device public key, a platform and architecture string, the hardware address used to bind the credential, the network address the authorization came from, and timestamps.
• Email delivery metadata: the time, the recipient, the subject, the provider message identifier and the result. Message bodies are not stored.

On this website

An opaque session identifier in a cookie, and a matching server-side record holding your API token and a copy of your email address. The token itself never reaches your browser. The session lasts six hours, or thirty days if you tick "remember me".

Analytics

This marketing site uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages people read. That is the one third party the site talks to: the webfonts are self-hosted precisely so that nothing else is. Analytics runs on the public pages only, and it is not loaded for signed-in users.

The plugin and the CLI contain no analytics of any kind. Nothing you do inside a Claude Code session is measured.

Who else sees any of it

• Stripe processes payments and holds the card details we deliberately never see.
• Brevo delivers transactional email: confirmations, receipts and refund correspondence.
• Google Analytics receives page views from this marketing site.

Nobody else. Your data is not sold, not shared with advertisers, and not used to train anything.

How long it is kept

Account, subscription and device records last as long as the account does. Email delivery metadata expires on the retention period configured for the mail gateway. Decoded content is not kept at all: it exists for the duration of one request.

Where it lives

The application and its database run on servers operated for CULP. Stripe, Brevo and Google operate their own infrastructure in their own regions; their handling of the data we send them is governed by their terms.

Your rights

You may ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for the account and everything attached to it to be deleted. Write from the address on the account to privacy@claudeusagelimits.com and it will be done. Deleting the account cancels the subscription and revokes every device.

Children

CULP is a developer tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly create accounts for anyone under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected or who receives it, subscribers are told by email before it takes effect. Wording fixes are made in place.
